What the new note means for Australia
As of October 2019, the Australian dollar has a new note. The Reserve Bank of Australia released the new $5 note on the same day that they released the new $50 note. This is the first time in 25 years that there has been a new banknote design for any Australian denomination.
The new five dollar note features a number of security enhancements, most notably a clear top-to-bottom window. The note also includes images of two well-known Australians: Dame Mary Gilmore and David Unaipon. The obverse side of the note shows Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile portrait, as is standard on all Australian currency.
So what does this mean for Australia? Well, for starters, it means that our currency is now more secure than ever before. The clear window makes it much harder to forge or counterfeit notes, and the other security features will make it even more difficult. This is good news for everyone who uses Australian currency, as it will help to keep our economy strong and stable.
In addition to increased security, the new five dollar note also brings with it a renewed sense of national pride. Australian currency is now on par with some of the best in the world, and we can be proud to carry around these beautiful notes in our wallets and purses.
